We are thrilled to announce Josh G. Starin as our newest associate at Schell Bray PLLC.
Josh is joining us from the Internal Revenue Service where he served for 13 years as a subject matter expert on major technical, procedural, and administrative issues for the IRS Tax-Exempt/Government Entities Business Operating Division, as well as temporary details to the Office of Chief Counsel, Knowledge Management Sr. Lead to Employment Tax, Knowledge Management Sr. Lead to 501(c)(3) Organizations, Knowledge Management Sr. Lead to Other 501(c) Organizations, as well as Attorney Advisor at the Office of Professional Responsibility. At Schell Bray, Josh will focus his practice on any and all issues related to public, private, or governmental organizations exempt from federal income tax; planning and direction of charitable donations; corporate formation and startup; professional ethics and responsibility for IRS practitioners; as well as general federal tax issues.
Prior to his time with the IRS, Josh worked as the lead Tax Attorney at Merritt Webb PLLC for client issues arising in NC, SC, and TN. Josh earned his BA from UNC Chapel Hill in both English and Psychology, his J.D. from NCCU School of Law, and his LL.M. in Federal Taxation from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law.
Josh and his wife have a 16-year-old son, Connor, and 9-year-old twin girls, Anna and Norah. Away from the office, Josh and his family exploring, spending time together, and cheering on their favorite sports teams. Josh personally enjoys chess, golf, and a good conversation. He volunteers his time as the Riverside High School pole-vaulting coach and serves as the vice president for the high school’s athletic booster club.
